Anpetu Tatanka Etay

Anpetu Tatanka Etay ( formally Buffalo Days is a Plains Indian tipi encampment) representing the Buffalo hunting days of 19th century Plains Indian culture. Each year it is held in a different remote region of the West, usually in Wyoming. People of all races and ages are allowed to attend as long as they meet our minimum authenticity requirements. This camp is not open to the public or spectators, there are no vendors or “traders row" etc.

Our camp focuses on the Lakota, Cheyenne and Arapaho culture but we allow any Plains Indian life and clothing styles from 1800 thru the late 1870’s. Throughout the 9 day encampment we have traditional feasts and dances of all sorts, structured warrior society meetings, women's guilds, authentic games and ceremonies all of which lead up to mounted and foot war parties going out 24 hours a day to fight our enemies the Crow, Pawnee and the Long Knives. The soldiers are accompanied by and protect various  civilian types from the time period such as buffalo hunters, traders, teamsters and settlers. We are looking for a select few people who have the intense interest and desire to live that life style, learn more about it and share what they have learned. Our brief description here cannot possibly convey the emotions and experiences that we  are able to share by attending.
