National Powwow 13
|
There were 75 lodges at the 1975 Danville, Ill.
National Powwow and 30 years later-15 tipis in camp. One can only
speculate about the precipitous decline in the numbers. Certainly
gasoline at $2.25 a gallon, creature comforts f recreation vehicle and
motels, and the pure sweat equity of pitching a tipi in July are
contributing factors.,.(or older population of tipi owners.)
In spite of the numbers, we did enjoy a great dance and we were impressed by the significant number of local area visitors to the tipi camp. by Peter Durkin |
